The Malerweg, in English "painters' trail", is a hiking trail in Germany located in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, not far from the Czech border, southeast of Dresden. Over a 112-kilometer loop along the Elbe starting from Pirna, it traverses hilly landscapes. It gets its name from the fact that many painters such as Adrian Ludwig Richter or Caspar David Friedrich painted numerous canvases here, inspired by the rock formations of this region with its unique geology. In 2007, it was voted "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail".
